After spending about 50% of our time at Refinery (we literally left for the airport from there…..rushing since we were having such a nice time with our newfound friends), we headed down to Phu Quoc. FINALLY THE BEACH!!! Apparently the king of Vietnam wants to retire there so a ton of investment is going into the island. Its not much now other than a heap of construction everywhere you turn, but by 2030 I can only imagine the number of resorts, restaurants, and seaside shops that will be erected. Apparently, the idea is that this place will be Vietnam’s answer to Thailand’s Phuket. It still has ways to go. That said, the beach was gorgeous, well, the one we actually made it to.
As per usual, we started the day too late to rent motorbikes, so we were only willing to walk to the nearest beach. It was perfect though. A nice little resort with lounge chairs and good food. If this was only one of Phu Quoc nicest beaches, I couldn’t wait to see its best one, Sao Beach.
