After 4 days of walking, climbing, and enduring impossible heat by way of the strong sun in Cambodia, it was time for the beaches of Thailand! But first, we had a stop over in Bangkok where we checked out the Soi Cowboy: the stretch of bars filled with tourists, expats (mostly men) and decorated with loads of go-go dancers dancing on the bar. The name of the area comes from T.G. “Cowboy” Edwards, an American air pilot that opened one of the first bars in 1977. We ended up at Tilac, which according to TripAdvisor, has “the prettiest girls” as noted by the 5 star rating. They sat us at the bar – the only women seated in this prominent section – right by the action. All other non-working ladies were seated at tables with their man friends so we felt a little out of place but hey, YOLO.
The next morning it was off to the south. We hit Phuket and a few surrounding islands, Koh Lanta, Ao Nang & Railay, Maya Bay and finished in Koh Phi Phi.
